The development, led by Woolworths, will feature a modern, 4,000 sqm, full-line supermarket, and 13 specialty shops, designed to house a diverse tenancy mix, specifically aimed at meeting the daily needs and demands of the local community and residents along the South Arm peninsula.

The transformative project, estimated to be a $25 million investment, will address long-standing needs for increased retail amenity and much needed local job creation.

The precinct is estimated to create 150 permanent retail positions upon completion, proving the company’s commitment to reinvesting in regional communities.

"This is a milestone development that signals a new chapter for retail choice and convenience in Lauderdale," said Mia Lilley. “RWC Tasmania is looking forward to building a diverse tenancy mix, delivering a shopping experience that is both contemporary and highly convenient for the growing local population."

The site, located at 438-450 South Arm Road, was strategically acquired by Woolworths in 2011. DA approval will follow extensive planning and collaboration with the Clarence City Council and the Department of State Growth.

The design for the precinct was conceptualised by specialist retail architects 12C, focusing on accessibility, aesthetics and customer satisfaction.

RWC Tasmania partner, Claude Alcorso said “Early off-market interest has been strong, with multiple tenancies pre-committed, demonstrating the confidence in the area, the developer on delivering a stand out project, and a need for a new retail hub”.

The project will move swiftly into the final stages of planning and construction commencement estimated for June 2026, with completion expected in mid 2027.

The development is expected to significantly benefit locals and those who live along the South Arm Peninsular by providing essential services closer to home, reducing the need to travel further afield for daily needs.
